A visit with my folks

My parents are the best!! I know you might think I am extremely biased
, maybe I am a little, but if you knew them you would think that they are pretty awesome too!
My Mom and Dad are the most courageous people I have ever known. They have faced unmeasurable loss in their lives, and they still are some of the most open-hearted and compassionate human beings anyone could ever meet. And I am so fortunate to not only call them my Mom and Dad, I also refer to them as my friends.
Like I have mentioned, I am going through a really stressful time in my life at the moment, and not only has it caused an insane amount of stress, but it has really affected my health. My parents have been beside me every step of the way through my health issues, and they REALLY understand what I go through. I am very fortunate because a lot of people who suffer from chronic pain are greatly misunderstood by their families. When my world fell apart and I lost everything, my Mom and Dad were faithfully right by my side, and when I need them they are always there for me. I don’t know if they will ever understand how much that has meant to me, it has made me the woman and the mother I am and always aspire to be.
When the world seems to be against me, there have always been on my side. They very much have joined in on my fight against pain, and I can positively say that without them I would have given up this fight a long time ago…. They courage and strength inspires me… They both make me want to be the best person I can possibly be…. with or without my pain.
Mom and Dad stopped by for a short visit today, and it made me feel so much better! It isn’t necessarily the things they say, or how they say them, it is simply that their presence in my life is very validating and comforting. I don’t have to explain myself to them, and in return they don’t ever judge me. They love me for exactly what makes me ME, and they don’t ever see me as an illness… They see exactly who I am underneath the mask of pain and medication….
I have always been close with my folks, but as the years have gone by we have developed a powerful bond that is unbreakable. When you go through the worst of the very worst with people, it either completely destroys your bond, or it strengthens it beyond measure…. I have lost many people in my life, but I have never lost the love and protection of my family.
They were only here long enough to have a cup of tea and then they were on their way….. But it made me really think of how lucky I am, and how just a moment in time can change everything……
Today as you go about your day, be reminded that the time you give to someone else is a gift… Not only to them but to YOU…..
